A digital voice recorder that records in Mp3 format (very easy to find) is recommended for recording the AAI. Many standard devices record only in WMV format, and files would need to be converted to digital, which is an extra time-consuming step,
The Olympus WS-801 Voice Recorder is the device recommended by one AAI project director. Look for this device or later models at Amazon.com. In October, 2012, the price of this model was approximately $70. It has 2 GB memory, and can record up to 514 hours. A microSD slot enables it to hold up to 32 GB of additional memory. NOTE: Later model in May 2017 is the Olympus WS-853 Digital Voic Recorder for approximatelly $78.
